Millionaires Are Made

The FREE Craigslist Hustle

I went to a very expensive private school. Scholarships covered a good portion, but I didn't come from money and was taught I had to earn everything myself from a young age. I had various hustles and positions, but the most successful one came from one of the simplest concepts in the book. Buy low (in this case, free) and sell high.

I had used Craigslist to find acting and other types of gigs, but didn't discover the FREE section until a few years into using the site to hustle. Now, most of the stuff on the site is junk. Straight up junk. And time is wasted searching through all these. But it is well worth it for the treasure.

I started in small things. Microwaves, toasters, VCRs and even video cameras. Getting these for free and then selling them for $20 to $30 was awesome for a college student. 1 trip could grab 5 or 6 of them in a couple hours, then pictures and post!

The best I ever found was a giant box of collectible magazines. The guy had his girlfriend find them and get mad, so he just gave them away. I was there within 15 minutes of the post. A few of those magazines sold for $350 and the box had about 300 of them. I paid for a semester of college with just that box. SCORE!

The real deal is furniture. People don't like the hassle and would rather just set couches, tables, and event TVs on the curb, post about it and watch it go away. Uhaul rents trucks for $19 an hour.
1 couch could go for $100 to $300. Get 2 or 3 in a trip, pay your buddy for helping, and life was great.

It's so easy, and as a college student, the flexibility was amazing. Shoot, I still scour the FREE section on Facebook and Craigslist every so often.

So, if you have a phone or computer, the ability to travel to get FREE items, and then to clean them up a bit and post them for higher profit, this is the perfect side hustle! It's even easier now with so many apps and websites with FREE sections and ways to sell them!
