I think a super important topic to cover is the hiring crisis. You can blame the economy, covid, biden, trump, china, unemployment bonuses, or whatever you want. The fact is, most of you are hiring and trying to find employees. Who owns a business here? Who is hiring? Just about all of you, sounds about right. If you know me, I don’t believe in excuses. So, let’s figure this out!

What can we do? Raise wages? Then raise prices? Offer employee benefits which also increase costs? Does the country all raise costs then raise prices and even it out? Who knows, but I spent a lot of time studying this for my degree, yet economists still argue about it everyday. Here’s one thing we can do that we can control.

Mindset. As a business owner, you need to find people that want to level up. You need people that want to take your position so you can level up again! You need to strive to level up! Look for people that want financial freedom, that want to enjoy the lifestyle of a 21st century entrepreneur with the technology and education we have available. See their work ethic and their desire to keep leveling up!

Some of you here might just be lost, confused, unsure where and what you want after COVID, and I have one question for you. Do you want to level up? Like really, are you willing to put forth the effort to level up? Most people never do, they stay as employees their entire life, but it all boils down to perseverance. Like the 10X god Grant Cardone says, you can’t lose if you don’t quit. Who is quitting? Who is letting COVID beat them up? Better yet, who is rising up in this new economy? Who is creating the future? Who is building a new foundation that helps them achieve their most happy self?

Go ahead, raise your hand if you are ready to level up. Do your happy dance if you like that decision.

Everyone has a unique definition of leveling up, but I want to take the Hardcore Closer definition. Ryan Stewman says there are 4 levels, and 6 major skills required. Business owners, update your hiring funnels and processes to include these!

Level 1 - Employee. You work for someone. You do what they say, you follow their direction. To level up, learn sales and marketing.

Level 2 - Entrepreneur. You can create and close your own leads. You no longer need someone else. You produce and you have your own cash flow (hopefully positive!). Must add hiring and training to your skill set to level up!

Level 3 - CEO: You get paid to think, not do. You create a vision and your team executes it. Now, you must learn leadership and branding to go up to the final level.

Level 4 - Owner/Investor: No longer work at all in the company. You own it, but just as an investor.. You must MASTER leadership.

Jeff Bezos did all this in front of our eyes. He left his job, then worked in his garage selling books, mastered hiring and then went public and became CEO for 15 years, then stepped down and now just owns shares. Bill Gates did the same, while we all watched!

Let’s talk about leadership. Your team needs to be all leaders. It’s not just one God King going forward, and no one is perfect enough to be a sole leader. Leaders do what needs to be done, bottom line. A great leader also creates other leaders. Elevate your team! Think about Peyton Manning, especially in his last year. He was no longer the most athletic, he was injured, and he persevered. Peyton elevated his team, he created leaders, and they won the Superbowl. Your team can lead up, lead below, or lead next to you, as long as everyone is leading to level up.

Let’s bring this outside the business world.

I used to never hire friends and family. Who has been told to never bring your friends and family into investments, business, “work”? Fuck that. I involved them in everything I can! Help them build their own empires. My friends and family are involved in most of my deals. They can invest just like I invest. Why would you hide opportunity from those you love? If it isn’t good enough of a deal/investment/opportunity for your friends and family, why the hell are you investing in it? I want my parents in my yacht with me! (or the next one over). One of my close friends has a restaurant, where do you think I take all my out of town guests?. Now he has mezcal brand, who the hell is the first liquor store to carry it? Another buddy has a car dealership, where do you think my entire rental fleet gets bought from? Don’t you want your best friend in the other yacht that you are racing? A leader isn’t “I’m better than you, it’s I want us to be better together”

Take a moment to look into your life. What is your friend group like? Do your friends always talk events, pop culture, who’s fucking who, he said she said bullshit, how much can you drink, where’s the best priced cocaine? Or, do yours talk about money? Investing? Marketing and the future? The fact you are here right now at this event is a smart move. Meet everyone here. Add value to their lives. Create. Give to be given. Grow your business, your empire, your future. A king has no servants, a king only needs other kings. Think about your life. Your team. Your company. Who wants to be alone in their empire, running around just to high five the air? Fuck, thats boring.
