This is our last in the mini-series about THE FUTURE! I talk about your future self, and how the 6 aspects of your health need to be improved daily. Learn all about small steps in making life better and easier as you progress through it!
Two Morons Talking -
What is your relationship with your future self? Is it constantly on your mind? Are you way too caught up in the past and how to recover? Do you live day to day stuck in the present?
Everyone talks about the future. I hope by now you realize how important your thought process surrounding the future is.
Every. Single. Day: Ask yourself, “How am I making my future self fall in love with me?”
Go home tonight. Grab pen and paper. Then go deep into thought. Where do I see myself in 6 months? Running a marathon? Happier in my relationship? IN a relationship? Making 6 figures? Making 7 figures? Lose 10 pounds? 20? Happier with God (or whatever higher energy you believe in)? Heal your body? Or your soul? Or your mental health?
Now look at 1 year from now? What are those answers? 5 years? And finally, 40 years.
What needs to change? What can you do today to get there? Set up a plan! Map out each week, or even each day with tasks that help you grow. Is it yoga daily? A salad instead of a burger?
Cancelling netflix and switching to discovery? Buying a water bottle so you stay hydrated and fresh all day long? Improving yourself to potential partners? Mapping out your next relationship and becoming the future self that is desirable?
If you can improve 1% each week, or even day, you will be 365% better in just a year. Just one year. And that’s if you completely don’t utilize last week’s talk about compounding investments!
This is the first time I have talked about the following belief. I live my life based on 6 aspects. Everyday, I focus on doing something to improve these 6 areas, no exceptions, con compromises. Skipping these is only fucking yourself over. If you have the right mentality, that simply isn’t possible or acceptable. NO FUCKING EXCUSES!
Financial - Simple. Make more money. Build future wealth. Make your future self live in a palace, and build it one brick at a time, every day. Invest too, into stocks/crypto/businesses and YOURSELF!
Physical - Unhealthy people die. Your future self doesn’t want to die. Stay fit, eat good shit, and be sure your immunities are as high as possible. Being sick means you can’t work on your goal at 100%.
Intellectual - Be smarter! Learn everyday. Study everyday. Add courses, certifications, degrees, and letters to your name. Become an expert in your field, and other fields!
Social - Even you introverts need some form of contact. Call your mom (she’s typically your best cheerleader!), have lunch with a friend, go to a concert, plan an event. We all need others that support and embrace us! Remember last week I talked about your friend group and where you spend your time. Use that group to knock out social and financial with one hangout.
Emotional/Sexual/Mental - This is becoming more and more important. You have to keep your headspace clear of negative energy. Cut out toxic people. Find romance, stay level headed. Go to therapy if you need a tweak. Keep your mind open, happy and positive.
Spiritual - Everyone seems to overlook this one. You can go to church and thump your bible and still have poor spiritual health. Meditation, studying the power of now, carl jung, yoga, energy healing, praying, talking with your inner chi, or reading the bible. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you believe, we all have something beyond just us that we touch into.
Some of you will have strengths in some areas. Some won’t. What does your future self have strength in? I hope all of them, pretty equally. It’s up to you to help create future you.
I have business adhd. My financial health is very strong. You know what my future self wants? To not operate and run 32 companies. So, I need to learn hiring, training, leadership, branding etc to fire myself. Anyone want to take over?
A Giant Question. What do you NEED? Just kidding, what does your future self NEED?
People typically only say what they want, not what they need. Annnnd your future self really doesn't have a voice unless you give it one. So, what do you really need? Now, I’m a numbers guy. And business and marketing is all about numbers. Can you use data to see what your future self wants? You can. Time blocking. How much time do you spend on each aspect of your health? After a couple months, find out where your time is spent. Is that where you want it to be spent? Now, start using time blocking to force yourself to work on aspects you need to work on for your future self!
Let’s try an exercise. Talk with a partner and simply finish these sentences. I’ll give you 2 minutes. I was, i am, i will be
You can use that with any aspect of your life. Physical health. What will you be? What is your future self? Can bench 250? Lose 25 pounds? Eat 3 more veggie servings a day? Those are numbers! How long will you set this goal for? How many extra pounds per day to get there? This is more data to make your future self fall in love with you!
Use a SMART goal. Specific, Measurable, Attainable, REalistic, Targeted. You can simply google that for a thousand tips on SMART goals.
Now, I can feel the energy changing. I can almost see eyes opening. Our next speaker specializes in energy and I bet she is noticing it too. Can you all feel how your manner changes when you think about your future? Don't you get excited about all the potential. Now, you just told someone who you will be, who your future self is. How do you feel about that? How will you make it happen?
You are a sum of your actions. What is one action you can do today, tonight, immediately. Think about that one thing. Tell yourself what 1 thing you will do right now. Tell your partner. Now on the count of 3, say it out loud to the whole room. 1, 2, 3.
Now, go make your future self perfectly what you envision. And go do your actionable item.
